On June 15, 2016, Pivot3 announced its first joint product “combining technology from [its] NexGen storage acquisistion with its hyperconverged platform.”

For many years, Pivot3, one of the first companies to bring hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) to market had focused on the video surveillance market. However, with the acquisition of NexGen, a storage systems vendor, it is now able to better tackle the enterprise market.

Quality of Service  (QoS) from compute can be controlled by the hypervisor, but workload aware QoS in the storage component of a HCI appliance is not so common. By bringing its HCI servers, and adding NexGen storage, Pivot3 is able to bring together the economics of HCI, the QoS aspects of its NexGen storage, to address the demands of the broader enterprise market.

Neuralytix believes that the new solution will address mixed workload environments well. We also believe that the movement towards an appliance with improved storage capabilities will also be critical as the HCI market continues to mature.
