On July 31, 2025, Informatica announced “advanced features to its Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) platform”. The theme that underlies this announcement is “everybody’s ready for AI except your data”.
In our opinion, the theme reflects the reality of where AI is today for enterprises. We believe that the features announced in this release will allow enterprises to deliver customer-facing AI solutions that create unique customer experiences and propel competitive advantage.
While most enterprises are already using AI in some way or incorporated AI into its products and services, Neuralytix research and our observations suggest, for the most part, what is considered AI is, in fact, advanced automation.
Customer-facing solutions (touted as AI) typically use existing and publicly available information (such as existing or previously published FAQs). As the data is already public, that are not subject to (or minimally subject to) governance and regulatory compliance.
But the true return from the vast amount of money invested in AI comes when enterprises can leverage datasets for ingestion into AI-engines that none of its competitors have – its own data. Proprietary enterprise data is the critical factor to differentiation and arguably the best source of data for creating advantage for any enterprise against their competitors.
Optimizing the outcomes from AI relies on the ability for an AI-engine to ingest as much data from as many data sources as possible. Data on which AI-engines rely must be equally trusted, compliant, and accurate as any other applications that rely on data from mission-critical data platforms, such as Oracle, SAP HANA, Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric that are stored on-premises or in public cloud providers including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Neuralytix believes that the release of these new features for Informatica’s IDMC platform is timely and necessary. Given the increasing number of Laws and regulations that govern privacy, augmented by new Laws and regulations such as the European Union’s Regulation adopted in June 2024 (aka Artificial Intelligence Act of 2021), enterprises are under more pressure than ever to ensure that the data they use for AI projects is trusted.
With this release, Informatica extends its successful foundation of data integration, data governance, and master data management (MDM) and presents trusted data for use in an AI context. They also leverage AI capabilities including natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), and generative AI (GenAI) in the same way customers use AI technologies – to increase productivity, improve user experience, and accelerate time to success.
Informatica has divided these new features into three themes for customer success – robust AI, responsible AI, and relevant AI.
Robust AI – Given that Informatica customers already rely on and have the confidence in Informatica’s ability to deliver governance, integration, and MDM for existing applications, there is little reason why customers should doubt Informatica’s ability to extend apply these capabilities to data that will be used for AI.
The new release includes the creation of a “recipe marketplace” that allows users to publish and share reusable “recipes” (workflow templates)as well as Model Context protocol endpoints for AI processes to easily integrate with other AI agents and applications, reducing integration time from weeks to hours.
Responsible AI – In terms of responsible AI, Informatica extends its capabilities to monitor and improve its workflow approval process to deliver unbiased data for use by AI-engines.
These new features are important for data used in the context of AI. As AI attempts to ingest as much (optimally all) data from corporate and external sources, the amount of data that will need to be governed and ensure trust increases exponentially. Improving monitoring and workflow processes will enable users and data governors to keep up with the demand for trusted data from AI-engines and applications.
Of all the features announced in this release, Neuralytix believes that Informatica’s claim that it will not introduce bias is by far the most critical and important feature.
AI-engines demand as much data from as many data sources as possible. But to achieve the optimal accuracy and value from AI, data must be ideally ingested in an unaltered form. Otherwise, the outcome may generate sub-optimal, irrelevant, or inaccurate outcomes that could be detrimental and counter-productive for the enterprise.
Relevant AI – With every enterprise investing in AI, any advantage an enterprise expects from AI relies on how quickly it can develop, optimize, and deploy AI outcomes. As noted above, AI-engines work best when they have access to as much data as possible from as many data sources as available.
New features in this release include integration between Informatica and GenAI connectors including NVIDIA NIM, Databricks Mosaic AI, and Snowflake Cortex AI.
In this release, Informatica delivers capabilities driven by NLP to improve productivity and simplify data pipeline development. It has also integrated AI-powered matching and explainability to fine tune match results for trusted AI-ready data. These features are expected to accelerate time to market for AI projects and allow a broader set of users to interact with the trusted data.
Neuralytix believes that the new features announced by Informatica will enable enterprises to deliver their AI applications with data that is trusted and properly governed for AI.
