Overview

From promise to production

Organizations expect the potential of AI to bring significant benefits to both enterprises and technology vendors. With the massive investments in AI projects over the last several years, what is the reality of enterprise AI projects today? How are technology vendors helping enterprises accelerate their AI projects to bring them from development and testing to production.

Almost every product and solutions offered by enterprises and technology vendors are integrated and marketed with AI as a core competitive advantage. We examine the possibility that customers have minimized or commoditized the value of AI. Have customers reached a point of “AI-fatigue”?

Our AI research will also look at the impact of AI in the context of whether it accelerates or decelerates sales. AI has extended the available and addressable markets for enterprises and technology vendors increasing overlap between competitive solutions. We look at the possibility that customers have too many choices. We posit that this increases the time necessary for customers to perform their due diligence leading to longer sales cycles.

Longer sales cycles may be tolerable for larger incumbent and established vendors, but what is the impact on new and emerging vendors? Does this reduce the window for first-move advantage for innovators?

The reality of AI and what it takes to realize its potential may be very different to the excitement and expectations of enterprises and technology vendors.
