On May 19, 2026, Informatica from Salesforce, held its annual user and partner conference, Informatica World 2026 in Las Vegas, NV. The main theme of this year’s Informatica World is the unification of foundational data management for enterprises that are increasing relying on agentic AI. Informatica explains that “we are moving from a world where data management is a back-office utility to one where it is the critical nervous system for autonomous action.”
With an increasing number of industry-specific regulations that govern an increasing number of enterprises, along with regulations that apply to all enterprises such as the European Union (EU)’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), enterprises must ensure the data that they use is trusted. In other words, the data must be governed in a way such that it complies with all legal requirements as well as internal corporate controls. Additionally, enterprises must also ensure that the data they use is of high quality, which includes amongst other capabilities, master data management (MDM).
As a leading vendor of data management technologies for over 30 years, many of Informatica’s customers are large established enterprises. In November, 2025, Salesforce finalized its acquisition of Informatica for approximately $8 billion in equity value.
The acquisition balances Salesforce’s reputation as a pioneer of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model with Informatica’s historic reputation as a mission-critical on-premises software vendor, on par with other software vendors including Oracle and SAP.
It is our opinion, absent the acquisition, Informatica’s long-term success would have continued along with its status and reputation within large enterprises. We also believed that Informatica’s progressively and considered integration of agentic AI capabilities into its portfolio of products would further enhance its position within large enterprises as indispensable. Informatica has evolved its offerings over the last several years from being point solutions (or in Informatica’s words, silos) such as data governance, AI governance, the management and maintenance of trust, MDM, etc. into a what it now calls “converged governance” in which it understands that these functions do not operate independently, but instead, are highly dependent.
It is also our opinion that the announcements made at Informatica World, neither overpromised nor disappoint. Fortunately, Informatica did not use the conference as a platform for “selling” or validating its acquisition by Salesforce. Announcements related to Salesforce were organic. In speaking with attendees, although not overt, it is our assessment that attendees were equally relieved!
Overall, Neuralytix considers Informatica World 2026 a success for Informatica (and by extension Salesforce). It must be noted that Informatica World is a conference dedicated primarily to existing Informatica users. While customers with whom we spoke were satisfied with what they heard at the conference and excited about the new developments in Informatica’s portfolio, this sentiment is not unexpected.
The announcements, demonstrations, and the direction Informatica presented focused mostly on agentic AI capabilities. In our opinion, unlike other vendors who are riding the “AI wave”, Informatica’s vision, development, and implementation of AI is moving at a pace that is compatible with the reality of AI in enterprises.
In the agentic AI world, the greatest concerns are about validating the accuracy of agents. We noted above that Informatica’s integration of AI is “considered”. It is announcements and demonstrations of its AI agents, we believe that Informatica has been very deliberate in ensuring that it minimized anything that might compromise the trust, integrity, and confidence of the data it managed. Informatica did not shy away from the fact that ultimately humans still need to supervise the execution and outcome of agents.
One aspect of the conference that did relate specifically to the integration of Salesforce and Informatica was the highlighting of the fact that even prior to the announcement of Informatica’s acquisition of Salesforce, Salesforce was already a significant customer of Informatica. In our opinion, the discreet presentation of how Salesforce uses Informatica should allow smoother integration and increased use of Informatica within existing Salesforce customers. Conversely, Salesforce customers should feel confident about adopting Informatica’s technology into their enterprises, particularly around MDM. As a result, we believe that Salesforce should see a healthy and positive return on its investment (ROI) in Informatica.
However, Neuralytix does question how long it will take for this return to be realized. As noted earlier, we expect revenues and profits generated by Informatica to grow at a rate consistent with whether Salesforce acquired Informatica or not. That said, Informatica was growing at single digits prior to its acquisition by Salesforce, while Salesforce has already reported double digit growth for Informatica in the first two quarters of ownership. But the ideal customer profiles (ICP) for Salesforce and Informatica are very different. We believe that it will take some time before the Salesforce sales teams can establish the correct contacts at its customers to consider, evaluate, purchase, and implement Informatica’s technologies. (Our prediction is that it will not be until calendar year 2028 before Salesforce can report any material and measurable improvement in its financials directly related to its acquisition of Informatica).
